Your Move, Stephane

Harper asks for a full hour of debate on the economy. I think we already know how Jack Layton feels about the need for a discussion on the matter, so over to you Stephane. Do you suppose the Liberals would like to see their leader spend an entire hour debating with Stephen Harper in Harper's single greatest area of expertise?

Perhaps they'd like to request a segment on the pressing issue of plaigarism in parliamentary speeches from five years ago. Or perhaps the war in Iraq. Or maybe, we can just roll those into one catchall segment of interesting historical hypotheticals, so that the citizens of Canada can be treated to a serious debate and discussion of NAFTA, the NEP, wage and price controls, and the entry of Newfoundland into Confederation.

The Liberals have made great political hay out of the economic turmoil the world finds itself in. I suspect that as the debates will show, that will prove to have been a major mistake.

Since the meeting that Mr. Layton has called for would be a closed-door session, there woul be no actual debate. The looney lefties would call for more spending and tax cut rollbacks. Mr. Harper would say no, and the socialists could emerge from any such meeting to claim that the PM was being obtuse and uncaring. The economy will be debated in on Wednesday and Thursday night in full public view. That way all sides will get to air their policies on the economy without the lefties being able to lie about what Mr. Harper is opposed to...like more taxes, more spending, more unworkable social leveling.

What are Dion's academic credentials? Usually Professors have written something.

Why is their no publicity about Dion not paying his debts on time?

Why is Layton's shoddy background not publicized? Another deadbeat.

Bob Fife made an appeal on behalf of the LPC for money today. Seriously. He got an email, read it, and then proceeded to make the appeal.

Dion's economic background:
Sociology major, schooled in France. (I think??) Wife pays the bills.
