Bill Davis Returneth

So John Tory says if he becomes Premier, he'll spend more. Lots more. I assume this is part of his plan to put to bed Liberal accusations that he's the second coming of Mike Harris, whom, as we all know, did so much damage during his first term in office that the electorate rewarded him with an increased percentage of the popular vote in 1999 - the first time in more than half a century this happened to an incumbent government in Ontario.

Of course, the historical revisionism about the Harris years has now achieved the status of urban legend, so much so that the PC Party itself seems to have bought into the myth.

As it stands, the only thing that appears to be keeping the vast majority of PC voters in Tory's camp is a greater disdain for Dalton McGuinty. And given the current state of affairs, come election day, that will probably not be enough.

I am thinking that John Tory is now more scary than Dalton McGuinty. They both are making a lot of stupid promises but at least we count on Dalton not meaning any of it. In all seriousness there is no way I could vote for either of them. Looks like Ontario will be stuck on stupid for a few more years.
